What is security reconnaissance?

 Refers to the process of gathering information about network, infrastructure or to identify vulnerabilities and potential entry points for malicious activities.

Note: Security reconnaissance should only be conducted by authorized personnel with proper training and legal permission as unauthorized activities may be illegal and unethical.

The goals of security reconnaissance are identifying potential security risks and threats, improving incident response time and threat hunting, enhancing security measures and defenses, countering cybersecurity (counterintelligence) as well as supporting operations and threat intelligence and ensuring compliance and regulatory assessments endure.
